Another season’s here and gone but not without some great memories. We welcomed many new campers this year.
Breakfasts and dinners provided by Bob Crowe laced together the eventful weeks of the 2009 season.
The “Love Shack” made its debut and was an instant hit creating a flash back of the 60’s with its psychedelic décor.
Two new cabins were completed and the pool cleaned and repainted with the pool shower house being completely renovated.
The big shower house got a fresh coat of paint and the lighting throughout the campground was improved.
Donnie Do Wop and Cool 101.7 radio station brought us back to the 50’s along with our first Car Cruise.
We had a campground “Cook-Off” which proved to be a big success, evidencing the fact that the best cooks around,
camp at Shangri-La! Movies, karaoke, dances by D.J. Clare, poker runs, fishing, bingo and Texas Hold 'Em Poker
along with swimming, volleyball and horseshoes were enjoyed by all. Christmas in July turned Shangri La into
a Christmas Village which included a scavenger hunt for the kids and a hay ride with Santa Claus
(who as we all know spends his summers at Shangri La). A visit from the chain-saw wood carver held our
attention for hours as did the “Juggle Man” who delighted young and old with his expert skills.
Our “Grease” float entry in the Jamestown Community Parade was filled with Greasers, their Chicks and our Biker
Santa Claus, who had the crowd movin’, groovin’ and hand jivin' to the sounds of the 50’s. Kudos
to Shangri-La for again bringing home a First Place Award for the 3rd year in a row.
The Halloween weekends included a costumed dance for all ages, trick or treating through the
campground for the kids and haunted hayrides which proved to be a “spooktacular” experience.
This is just a sample of the activities here at Shangri-La. Come be a part of our “family”.
