Welcome back campers and dear friends. Our camp family had another season full of good times. The kids enjoyed races, an Easter egg hunt, hot dog eating contests, hay rides (especially with Santa Claus, who spends his summers at Shangri-La). The children’s D.J. and his “Bubbles” had them giggling and dancing. A giant slip N’ slide was a blast for “kids” of all ages
In addition to our regular activities, Donnie Do Wop entertained us with his repertoire of golden oldies as did the D.J.’s from 101.7 at their live poolside broadcasts. Christmas in July brought decorated campsites, a hay ride and pictures with Santa and a scavenger hunt for the kids. Our campground cook-off brought out the many great cooks at Shangri-La, the winner this year being a man!
New this year was the “Newfie Express” which took a hay wagon full of campers to see the “Gentle Giants of Water Rescue” in action down at the lake. Also this summer was our first wedding reception which was pulled together by the good people at Shangri-La. Everyone was invited to share in the festivities. In the Jamestown parade, our campground entry (a Tribute to the Wild West) brought us our fourth consecutive win, being the “Judges Choice Award”. Our second annual car cruise was a big success which brought entries from far and near. And wrapping up the season was the Halloween “Spooktacular” weekends with costumes, trick or treating and “boo”tifly decorated campsites and haunted hayrides.
